FIGHT NIGHT AT THE TANK AT HP PAVILION
Bigger & Better Cards
By Meaghan Boyle
It's back! Action, excitement and, of course, hard hitting professional boxing matches. That's how American Metal & Iron Fight Night at the Tank began its 2007 campaign at HP Pavilion and will continue through the rest of the season.
This marks the sixth consecutive year that Fight Night at the Tank has been held at HP Pavilion. With each event the experience gets bigger and better, with many top fighters from Northern California fighting premier fighters from around the world. HP Pavilion will host two more events in 2007: September 13 and November 8. All cards are scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. (dates are subject to change).
American Metal & Iron Fight Night has showcased many past and present ring champions; former WBA and WBC light heavyweight champion Montell Griffin (48-7, 30 KOs), light welterweight and former Playboy model Mia "The Knockout" St. John (43-9-2, 18 KOs), Eric "Butterbean" Esch (77-7-4, 58 KOs), 2004 Olympic Gold Medalist Andre Ward and Paul "The Punisher" Williams (33-0, 24 KOs), who recently beat Antonio Margarito (34-5, 24 KOs) and won his first title as WBO Welterweight Champion. Most recently making an appearance at the Tank was seven-time world champion and future first ballot hall of famer, James "Lights Out" Toney (70-6-3, 43 KOs), who won in a split decision over New York native Danny Batchelder (25-5-1, 12 KOs).
Silicon Valley Sports & Entertainment (SVS&E) is co-promoting American Metal & Iron Fight Night at the Tank in 2007 with Goossen Tutor Promotions. This is the second consecutive season both promoting groups have worked collectively to put together these impressive and entertaining boxing events. In years past, SVS&E worked with some of the biggest names in the promoting business, such as Oscar De La Hoya and Sugar Ray Leonard.
Fight Night at the Tank and SVS&E's top priority is to bring fans the biggest and best boxing matches in the Bay Area. This commitment to excellence has helped the event develop and grow more each year. Fans that choose to buy full season ticket packages are given special benefits to enhance their boxing experience. Regular season ticket holders receive an American Metal & Iron Fight Night at the Tank long-sleeve t-shirt (one per account), advance notice of select HP Pavilion events, such as family shows, concerts, sporting events and many more, along with invitations to each and every Fight Night weigh-in. Exclusive Inside the Ropes season ticket holders receive all the same perks as the regular season ticket holder but are also given access to the exclusive Chivas Regal Ringsiders Club, free parking at each event and admission to each VIP Ring Insights event.
There are many great advantages to being an exclusive Inside the Ropes season ticket holder, but the best incentive to join is the VIP Ring Insights. This event is a special thirty-minute session, giving our season ticket holders the opportunity to get to know the fighters, ask questions, take pictures and get autographs from some of the biggest names and faces in the boxing world. Thus far, guests at the VIP Ring Insights have included De La Hoya, Leonard, St. John, Esch, "Sugar" Shane Mosley, former Heavyweight Champion of the World Ken Norton Sr., Ray "Boom Boom" Mancini, Bert Sugar, Al Bernstein, Jim Lampley, Jackie Kallan, and Freddie Roach. Individual tickets can be purchased at the HP Pavilion ticket office, at Ticketmaster ticket centers throughout the Bay Area, online at ticketmaster.com or charge by phone at (408) 998-TIXS, (415) 421-TIXS or (510) 625-TIXS. For more information about season tickets or group discounts call (408) 999-5746 or go to www.fightnightatthetank.com.
